The embankment received its current name in 1940 in rememberance of the armed uprising that had happened in 1905. before that it had been called Presnenskaya embankment because of surrounding Presnya district.
REDEVELOPMENT
OF THE EMBANKMENT
Redevelopment of the embankment consists of rearrangement of carriage way, intensive planting, and redevelopment of pedestrial area.
LINEAR BILEVEL PARK
A single extensive line that forms a green front of the embankment and creates a buffer recreational zone near water.
The first level is the upper embankment with wide green areas. This is a transit line that runs along the river and has spaces on the “River squares” for pedestrians to have a rest.
The second level is a row of lower levels of the embankment close to water.
ICONIC TERRITORIES
Along the embankment there are iconic city-owned premises such as house of the government of the Russian Federation, Tryokhgornaya manufactory, Krasnaya Presnya park, Expocenter, Moscow-city.
